It Is Never Too Late for Maternity Photos
I always say the sweet spot for maternity photos is somewhere between 28 and 34 weeks. But Olivia and Scott reached out to me with just two weeks until their due date and this session made me want to add a footnote to that advice — because there is no wrong time, and Olivia absolutely proved it!
They had not yet done maternity photos and decided last minute that they wanted them. I had the availability, we found a location that worked for both of us, and less than a week later we were standing at one of the most beautiful spots in Massachusetts at golden hour. Everything fell into place perfectly.
The Location
Wayside Inn Grist Mill, Sudbury MA
If you have never been to the Wayside Inn in Sudbury, Massachusetts put it on your list immediately. The historic Grist Mill on the property is absolutely stunning and offers so much variety within a single location.
We had running water, old stone architecture, lush greenery, wooden bridges, and open fields all within walking distance of each other. For a maternity session it gave us an incredible range of backdrops without ever having to get in the car.
We arrived at 5:30 PM which gave us beautiful shade, soft directional light, and a setting sun that made everything glow. The timing was perfect and the weather cooperated completely.
Olivia Was an Absolute Star
I want to take a moment to say that Olivia was incredible. Anyone who has been in the final stretch of pregnancy knows how physically demanding it can be. Being on your feet, moving between locations, posing for photos — it is a lot. She did not miss a beat. She was stunning, she was game for everything, and the photos reflect exactly that.
This is a good reminder that maternity photos are not just about the bump. They are about capturing who you are in this season of your life. And Olivia brought her whole self to this session.
