The Email That Made Me Smile
When I received the inquiry for Tessla and Sarah’s wedding I knew immediately this was going to be a special one. Right away I could tell these two had fantastic personalities. And when I read that five cats and one dog would be joining the wedding portraits I thought to myself — that does not sound easy, but that absolutely sounds like somewhere I want to be.
I was right on both counts.
Welcome to the Family
From the moment I arrived I was greeted with big hugs and welcomed right into the gathering like I had always been part of it. That set the tone for the entire day. This was a small and intentional celebration — Tessla, Sarah, parents, siblings, a niece and nephew, and of course all the animals.
The Animals Stole the Show
We started with the animal portraits because the cats and dog had special outfits and we all knew they would only tolerate those for so long. It was not easy. But with patience, good attitudes, and a little help from Photoshop we got the shot. And it was absolutely worth it.
A Ceremony Full of Joy

The ceremony was quick, silly, and completely perfect. This is my favorite type of wedding. Not because it was small or simple but because nobody took themselves too seriously.
It was not a moment of solemnity and performance. It was a moment of pure happiness, laughter, and love. And that energy is absolutely contagious.
JCPenney Poses and James Bond Vibes
After the ceremony we dove into portraits and these two were game for absolutely everything. We did some classic shots, some silly ones, and then the requests started coming in. JCPenney style portraits? Done. James Bond poses? Obviously. We laughed through the entire thing and the photos are incredible because of it.
More Than a Session
Within that one hour of coverage we bonded over thriller books and video games and I left feeling like I had made two new friends. That does not happen at every shoot but when it does it is the best part of this job.
I would do this type of session a million times over.
